WAITING TIMES FOR SURGERY
1. Public patients - In Echuca and Seymour, patients can be booked in for their surgery(usually within 1-6 weeks) .
2. PRIVATE patients can be booked for their operations/endoscopy at John Fawkner, Western Private/Western Gastroenterology or Mitcham/Waverley Private after the initial consults.
3. Single Visit Service - At Mitcham and Waverly Private Hospitals, suitable patients can have their operation in the same day as the initial consult(ie hernia repair, skin cancer surgery, gastroscopy/colonoscopy, haemorrhoids, gallbladder surgery, ingrown toenails). Please request this when booking your inital consultation - Dr LP Cheah will then contact you before your appointment.
4. Most minor procedures(eg excision of skin lesions with/without plastic surgical skin flaps, wedge excision of ingrown toenails) can be done on the day of referral at The Clinic Footscray, 91 Paisley Street, Footscray and at Mitcham or Waverley Private.
FEES
Consults - please enquire; generally initial consult - $30+ out of pocket, review consult - $20+ out of pocket(balance claimed back from Medicare); bulk-billing - in Footscray, refugees/disadvantaged. Veteran Affairs gold card and Workcover - no out of pocket expenses.
Privately insured patients - Usually no out-of-pocket expenses(Private insurance company billed directly under Gapcover/Ezyclaim etc)
Overseas patients - Will usually charge the HBA Ezyclaim or Medibank Gapcover rate
Please bring along a referral from your general practitioner and all the relevant investigation(eg Ultrasound/CT films and copy of the radiology reports or blood test results)
